MID YEAR ADMISSIONS

Parents and carers can apply directly to Becket Keys C of E School for ‘mid-year’ admissions. To make an informal enquiry about the availability of places and operation of waiting lists for ‘mid-year’ places, please contact the Admissions Department by sending your enquiry to admissions@becketkeys.org.

If a place is available and your son/daughter is next on the waiting list, you will be invited for a meeting with the Headteacher. A ‘Taster Day’ for your son/daughter can also be arranged. A ‘mid-year’ admissions application form can be found here on the Essex County Council website under ‘Secondary School Admissions’ and should be returned to the school. The school will notify the Local Authority if a place is offered.

Consultation Update - Admissions 2025-26

Please note that the school has publicly consulted on changes to the faith criterion - click here for the full report. For applications to Year 7 for admission in September 2027, the school intends to amend the period of church attendance required to meet the faith criterion to fortnightly attendance for at least three years.

VARIATION - SEPTEMBER 2023

Dear Stakeholder

Variation to admissions policy for Becket Keys C of E School – September 2023

We write to confirm that the Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC), acting on behalf of the Secretary of State, has agreed that due to the closure of churches during the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to modify our faith-based admission criteria.

The documents include the following amendment in relation to church attendance: “In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these admissions arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship”.

Yours faithfully

A.P. Scott-Evans, Headteacher
