GCSE Geography Field Trip (Year 11), Juniper Hall

It is a requirement for all GCSE Geographers to attend urban and rural fieldwork and this shall form the basis of one of the GCSE Geography examination. To facilitate this we look to undertake a residential fieldtrip to cover all of the content in the spring term of Year 11. Traditionally we use the Field Studies Council’s facilities at Juniper Hall in Surrey to undertake rivers, coasts and urban or rural studies. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a range of skills knowledge and experiences both for the examination element of the course and for further studies. Students will also have the opportunity to develop as well rounded young people in an exciting and enjoyable venue.

The trip includes:

  • Accommodation
  • Transport
  • Expert tuition including evening sessions
  • All meals (except lunch for the journey down to the centre)
  • Transport to and from the venue from school

GCSE History Trip (Year 11), Berlin & Krakow

The History Department offers a field trip to Berlin and Krakow for Year 10 students. It is an exciting trip which is moving, worthwhile and relevant as students are able to relate to it through the study of their Edexcel GCSE course ‘Weimar and Nazi Germany 1918-39’.

The guided trip includes a visit to the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Topography of Terror museum and a tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial.

Accommodation is on a half board basis, but inevitably there will be a need for spending money for snacks during travel time as well as for lunch and public transport around the city. Students will also need a passport and European Health Insurance card (EHIC). The trip has limited spaces and is not compulsory.

A Level Biology Field Trip (Year 12), Epping Forest

The Biology Department offers a visit Epping Forest Field Studies Centre to support the first year of the Biology course and complete the Practical Endorsement (PAG) part of the course. The trip includes:

  • Coach travel to the venue.
  • Expert tuition from fully qualified instructors.
  • Educational resources to support the course.
