Becket Keys Best Ever Results!

Thanks to Ian Davidson for the photographs

Today was the day that students came to Becket Keys to collect their GSCE results.  As with our A level results day, we felt that running the day as close to ‘business as usual’ was important.  Although students missed out on taking their exams in the usual fashion, we were going to make sure that students did not miss out on opening those envelopes in school!   A large number of teachers came in today to be a part of this special day and in order to congratulate and support students (all socially distanced of course!).

It had been an anxious wait for students and parents, particularly with the uncertainty in the run up to the results day in regards to how grades would be awarded.  Students today received their Centre Assessed Grade or Government Calculated Grade - whichever was highest.

Many students at Becket Keys achieved outstanding results.  Four students achieved at least 6 GCSEs at Grade 9.  These students were Fraser Baker, James Benad-Smith, Dominion Okwuosa and Kristin Van Heerden.  Nine students gained 10 GCSEs at Grade 7 or higher.  There were also students who made astonishing progress and achieved well beyond target grades.  These students include Abigail Catton, Sarah Saich, Luke Benson, Emmanuel Maduka and Tara Duffy.

Luke Benson attended the day with his Mum, Fiona Benson.  Luke said, ‘I am very grateful to my Teachers for their help and support’ whilst Mum Fiona (who is also a parent Governor) said ‘As a parent I couldn’t have asked more from a School.  The staff have supported us every step of the way’.

Kristin Van Heerden was delighted with her grades and said ‘I want to thank all my amazing teachers for helping me achieve these results. I am very proud. I know I could not have done it without their help and support. Thank you!

Mr Atherton, RET lead adviser, said ‘It has been a great privilege to share this day with the families and teachers of Becket Keys.  It has been a wonderful celebration of students’ successes and achievements.   Students have been delighted with their GCSE results, and quite rightly so.’

Mr Scott-Evans, Headteacher said ‘We are all incredibly proud of what our GCSE students have achieved this year, particularly in such difficult circumstances. They have always been an outstanding year group and they will go on to achieve great things.   We are looking forward to welcoming many of them to our Sixth Form.’

Mr Peggs, Head of Sixth Form said ‘We have had a very busy day, enrolling over 110 students into the Sixth Form. It was wonderful to see all the students after such a long time and we are looking forward to supporting them in the next stage of their education. We know that they cannot wait to come back to school in September.’
