6th Form Curriculum Guide - Year 12 Art
Term 1 and 2Personal Investigation- developing ideas   
Students will experiment with a wide range of materials, media and processed which they will be encouraged to evaluate to select the most effective. They will also explore diverse themes under the title of 'Discarded' where they will be encouraged to develop their own individual concept and approaches.
Assessment: Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons. Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting. Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-EKey Words and Terms
 
Term 3Personal Investigation- Creating outcomes   
Students will experiment with a wide range of materials, media and processed which they will be encouraged to evaluate to select the most effective. They will also explore diverse themes under the title of 'Discarded' where they will be encouraged to develop their own individual concept and approaches. During this term, students will work independently to create an outcome showcasing the best materials, techniques, imagery and concepts explored so far in the course.
Assessment: Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons. Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting. Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 4Mock Exam- Initial Ideas   
Through the choice of themes, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas and make a personal decision about which are of study they would like to make artwork about. Students are encouraged to explore ideas and concepts of interest to them. They will discuss and share ideas; thus gaining a greater understanding of themselves as well as the people and the world around them.
Assessment: Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons. Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting. Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 5Mock Exam- Developing Ideas   
Through the choice of themes, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas and make a personal decision about which are of study they would like to make artwork about. Students are encouraged to explore ideas and concepts of interest to them. They will discuss and share ideas; thus gaining a greater understanding of themselves as well as the people and the world around them.
Assessment: Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons. Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting. Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 6Mock Exam- Creating an Outcome   
Through the choice of themes, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas and make a personal decision about which are of study they would like to make artwork about. Students are encouraged to explore ideas and concepts of interest to them. They will discuss and share ideas; thus gaining a greater understanding of themselves as well as the people and the world around them. During this term, they will design and create an outcome. This will be created in exam conditions for a duration of 15 hours.
Assessment: Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons. Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting. Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Key Words and Terms
