COMPONENT ONE
Introductory Skills project
In term 1, students will experience foundation style learning through skills workshops. They will use their summer holiday homework as inspiration for samples & a mixed media canvas.
Students will:
-experiment with drawing and painting
-produce a large close up collage/ painting of a flower
-experiment with a wide range of decorative techniques
-produce ideas sheets for a mixed media canvas
-explore a broad range of materials
-create a mixed media canvas

COMPONENT ONE
Introductory Skills project
In term 2, students will use one artist/ designer each for three different areas of Textiles:
-soft furnishings for interiors
-fashion/ fashion illustration
-art textiles
These will function as a starting point for three pieces of Textiles work in term 3.
Students will:
-learn about construction & patterns
-learn about designing for interiors
-research appropriate and relevant artists/ designers
-work in the style of other artists/ designers
-produce initial ideas and samples for Textiles work relating to each artist/ designer studied
-refine ideas until a potentially successful final idea is obtained

In term 3, students will combine learning from T1 & T2 to produce different types of Textiles work that reflect their research and artists/ designers studied.
Students will:
-make soft furnishing/s for interiors
-make a garment
-make a Textiles panel/ sculpture
Deadline for proposal/s for personal investigation (used in Year 12 mock exam) – end of February half term

Term 4 | Mock project_T4 | |

COMPONENT ONE
Mock project
In Term 4, students begin their mock exam project based on their proposed personal investigation.
Students will:
-research appropriate artists/ designers/ sources of inspiration
-use research to generate a range of initial ideas
-produce three proposed final ideas
-experiment with a wide range of relevant techniques
-purposefully explore and test materials
-produce a final idea
-evaluate final idea and refine further
-carry out extensive trials of all intended techniques/ processes
Put personal investigation proposal into the form of an exam paper ready for Year 12 mock exam. Deadline 29th March

Mock project
Term 5 focuses on mock exam preparation.
Students will:
-evaluate techniques used to identify the most potentially successful
-refine final idea further
-show the different stages of making using photographs of techniques trials
-time different stages of making
-write a ‘plan for making’
-write a materials list for the exam

COMPONENT ONE
Mock project
Students produce a personal response final outcome in their 15 hour supervised mock exam that links to their personal investigation proposal.
Students will:
-produce Textiles work that links to personal investigation proposal
-evaluate their personal response Textiles work
-finalise personal investigation brief and write first draft over Summer holiday
Y12 MOCK EXAM:
4th & 5th July

Assessment: Mock exam marked using AQA assessment objective criteria
Assessment focus: AO4
See literacy co-ordinator before end of year to support with writing first draft of personal investigation (introduction and body text only) by September
