KS4 Curriculum Guide - Year 11 Textiles (Art)
Term 1Mock exam project_T1  
COMPONENT ONE In term 1, students begin their mock exam project. Students have the choice of several ‘questions’ to choose from. This term focuses on research; sources of inspiration and experimenting with materials and techniques. Students will use their research to generate a range of initial ideas. A selection of these will be developed until three are chosen as proposed final ideas. Students will then refine these ideas further by producing experimental samples for each idea during ‘workshop style’ lessons. Students will: -create a secondary sources mini sketchbook -produce 3 studies of different Textiles artists/ Textiles designers/ Fashion designers or one of each -analyse the work of artists/ designers studied - reproduce own photos using different drawing media/ decorative techniques/ different materials -produce experimental samples inspired by artist/ designer studies -analyse the work of artists/ designers studied -produce a range of initial ideas -produce three pro

Term 2Mock exam project_T2  
COMPONENT ONE Students spend term 2 preparing for their 10 hour supervised mock exam, where they will produce Textiles work relating to their chosen question. Students will: -produce a final idea -evaluate final idea and refine further by changing/ improving parts/ all -produce trials of all intended techniques/ processes -show the different stages of making using photographs of techniques trials -time different stages of making -write a ‘plan for making’ -write a materials list for the exam -produce a personal response final outcome Y11 MOCK EXAM: 13th & 14th December

Term 3Externally set task_T3  
COMPONENT TWO In term3, students begin their externally set exam task. Students choose one ‘question’ from several provided by the exam board. Students use this ‘question’ as a starting point to collect research as well as primary & secondary research. This research is used to generate a range of ideas. Each idea is thoroughly explored with different materials, techniques & processes until a successful final idea is obtained. Students will: -create a secondary sources mini sketchbook -produce artist/ designer studies - reproduce own photos using different drawing media/ techniques/ materials -produce experimental samples inspired by artist/ designer studies -analyse the work of artists/ designers studied -produce a range of initial ideas -produce three proposed final ideas with samples -experiment with materials and techniques that realise intentions -explore materials purposefully
