Core Religion (Sixth Form) Overview

Term 1: Why Bother with Religion?

Students engage in discussions about religion and spirituality with specific reference to the Christian faith. The intention would be that a visiting religious leader would come and lead at least one of the lessons.

  1. Inviting a leader of religious group into school, students will direct questions to him/her about their spiritual experiences and the extent to which their religion constructs experiences to meet this need.

Broaden curiosity and deepen understanding of spirituality.

Enrich our tolerant character towards those of the Christian faith, other faiths and none.

Term 2: Current Affairs

Students will use this term to engage with topics of current affairs and support Year 12 with learning skills of public speaking.

  1. This assessment is a practical task. Students will have to present their speech to their peers and video the website a wider audience.
